Biography
Jia is a Taiwanese-Canadian indie/alternative artist and singer-songwriter from Burnaby, BC. Her sound blends dark western, earthy americana, dream pop and indie rock, inspired by her love for films by Tarantino, Wong Kar-Wai, David Lynch, Jean Luc-Godard, etc. Her forthcoming album Technicolour, follows her 2023 debut EP, The Melting of the Moon, which was recorded at Monarch Studios in Vancouver, BC with City and Colour's band, and 3x JUNO-nominated producer Olivia Quan.
Jia also worked with JUNO-nominated producer Alysha Brilla through the On The Haus program and was selected as one of 10 singer-songwriters to participate in the Women in Music x She is the Music (Alicia Keys' organization) Songwriting Bootcamp in 2021.
Born in Taipei and raised in Vancouver, Jia began performing at a young age and released her first single during the pandemic. She has since played showcases in LA, Toronto and Vancouver, and has amassed over 1M streams across all DSPs, with placements in retail spaces like Lush and Nespresso.
