Colour Tongues unveil nostalgic and mischievous “Ashgrove” from their forthcoming debut album, Midnight Island (out May 19, 2022), produced by award-winning Matt Di Pomponio. Ashgrove is a small suburb outside of Brisbane, Australia where singer and guitarist James Challis spent much of his youth. After 10 years of living abroad, he felt the strong desire to revisit it mentally. “We all have an Ashgrove,” the band states about the new single. “It’s a place where you learned to sink, or to swim, and came into your own as an adult – or what you thought it was like to be an adult. ‘Ashgrove’ conjures up memories of fleeting romances, lessons learned the hard way, and the exhilarating adventure that being a teenager brings. It’s important to remember that none of us ever really grow up, and why would we want to?”
Placebo are today sharing a brand-new single, “Happy Birthday In The Sky”. It is the final single that will be released ahead of the band’s highly-anticipated new album Never Let Me Go, which is due March 25th.
Los Angeles-based alt-pop singer-songwriter MOTHICA has released her powerful new single “SENSITIVE” via Heavy Heart Records – her imprint with Rise Records/BMG. The honest and vulnerable track is an anthem for introverts everywhere. “I wanted to make the most upbeat and aggressive song about being an introvert,” says MOTHICA. “Because that’s how it feels to me when I have trouble expressing my emotions, sometimes it comes out as anger and frustration of being misunderstood. So we combined a metal guitar with a driving dance bass to illustrate this emotion just in time for Pisces season.”
Acclaimed indie pop band Lucius’ new song, “Dance Around It” is out today – watch / share the joyful music video HERE. Reflecting on the song, Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe share, “In many ways ‘Dance Around It’ cracked the intention for the entire record; to dance through the darkness. To take what may have been isolating and internal, and instead, make it loud, and put it on display – give it legs to dance. When we brought it to the studio, we asked our dear friends and collaborators (pinch me) Sheryl Crow and Brandi Carlile to sing with us; they were so present and instrumental during the writing and recording of our record – and hearing them sing on this track felt like dancing through that last part of a dark tunnel.”
Today, Canadian hardcore punk heavyweights Cancer Bats have dropped a second track and video, “Lonely Bong”, from their anticipated forthcoming seventh studio album Psychic Jailbreak. The new LP will be released on April 15, 2022 through their own label Bat Skull Records in partnership with New Damage Records in Canada. One of the first tracks to be written for the new record, “Lonely Bong” fuses together punishing hard-hitting drums and southern-rock tinged riffs with frontman Liam Cormier’s signature vocal intensity.
On “Lonely Bong” drummer Mike Peters shares:
“Lonely Bong is a song about life on the road and being in a band. It was a big lifestyle change for us when the pandemic happened and we couldn’t tour. We missed it a lot. Playing music, seeing friends and fans from around the world. We didn’t even see each other for over a year. LB is a homage to the road life and the blessing it’s been in our lives.”
