(May 11, 2022) Danger Mouse & Black Thought – two of contemporary music’s most exciting, respected artists – have announced their forthcoming joint album, Cheat Codes, out August 12th via BMG.
Cheat Codes is Danger Mouse’s first hip-hop album since his DANGERDOOM collaboration with the late, great MF DOOM, and follows Black Thought’s pioneering output with The Roots and critically acclaimed solo trilogy, Streams Of Thought.
Genre-bending instrumental band Polyphia are back with “Playing God,” their first song since 2019. The track was produced by guitarists Tim Henson & Scott LePage, alongside JUDGE (Migos & Marshmello, blackbear, Young Thug), and features additional production by the band’s longtime collaborator Y2K (Doja Cat, Remi Wolf, Tove Lo), and Johan Lenox (Kanye, FINNEAS). Co-written with Wes Hauch (Alluvial), the instrumental track features a complex arrangement of nuevo flamenco guitars, bossa nova flair, and trap-influenced rhythms, and sees the band’s guitar virtuosos using nylon string guitars for the first time.
(May 6, 2022) – Austin’s inimitable …And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead announce their first quadraphonic surround sound studio album – XI: Bleed Here Now – due out July 15, 2022 via Dine Alone Records in North America and Century Media in Europe. The new LP is their 11th, was produced by Trail’s own Conrad Keely and Jason Reece alongside Charles Godfrey who also produced 2020’s X: The Godless Void and Other Stories, and was mastered by Scott Sedillo and KamranV at Bernie Grundman Mastering. XI: Bleed Here Now is QUARK encoded to play in both stereo and Regular Matrix quadraphonic sound. Along with the news, Trail of Dead is releasing lead single “No Confidence” today b/w “Salt In Your Eyes”
(Toronto, ON – May 6, 2022) – Canadian indie alt-pop/rock artist JEEN announces the fall release of her new album, Tracer, on October 21, 2022. Kicking off with the first single “On and On” today, co-produced with Ian Blurton, JEEN plays her usual rhythm guitar but also took over bass and synth duties here with Blurton covering lead guitar and Stephan Szczesniak heard on the drums.
